Oil Water Salt Scripture

For parent and homeschool groups wanting Christain inclusion

Graduated water

“You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; you anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.” Psalm 23:5

Objective: Add an equal amount of water to start a graduated bottle on the table.

Prepare the activities, knowing that something will overflow. A big towel is best to have

Materials (number) needed: DIY bottles (8)

masking tape (6 inches per bottle)

pencils (8)

1/4 cup measures (1 or 8)

water

  1. Hand out materials per child
  2. Fill measuring cups going around the circle
  3. Help each mark the water level on the tape after each fill
  4. Stop filling water at 3 of 4 quarter cups (CC.B.4.C)
  5. Add vegetable oil as the teacher for the remaining 1/4 of the bottle and discourage kids from shaking by leaving the cap off. The rest of the project is better with delayed gratification around shaking.
